// Delco Compost

Have you wondered where you can compost your leaves, tree trimmings and food products? We hope to provide you with a list (and map) of local sites in Delaware County, as well as references that can help you learn about composting. When you compost, you reduce waste, reuse and recycle natural materials (nutrients and organic materials) and create a valuable gardening supply.

The Pennsylvania Department of Environment Protection has a web site that has a great deal of reference material. (Please note that at the current time, there is no database available to the public.)

Delaware County operates a 9 acre Compost Farm which is located at Concord & Incinerator Roads in Chester Township.

There are no compost sites in Delaware County that will take food waste. If you know of any, please contact us so that we can add them to our database.

There is only one place (farm) in the southeast region that accepts food waste:

Two Particular Acres

Royersford, PA 19468

The Professional Recyclers of Pennsylvania has a web site that has a Delaware County Composting Directory.

Philadelphia

For those who live in Philadelphia, PhillyCompost has a great website listing all private and public composts. It also contains a lot of information on composting.

Here is a link to a recent Philly News article http://www.philly.com/philly/news/homepage/75605362.html?viewAll=y.

Tim Bennett started Bennett Composting in 2009 which provides a service to remove compostable materials in the Philadelphia area. The company is headquartered at 1627 S. Mole Street in Philadelphia, PA.
