What does sustainability mean?

A sustainable community:

  • is healthy and safe
  • uses resources sensibly and fairly
  • enables everyone to play a part
  • has a local economy for all people
  • cuts waste and pollution
  • has its own character
  • cares about people and nature

We will be promoting this concept in the Delaware County, Pennsylvania, community. We hope to be a source of information about how to be sustainable. We hope to provide current news on the subject. We hope to be a forum for discussing sustainability and related topics. We are looking for people to help us help others. If you are interested please join us or contact us.

Membership
All individuals will have free membership in the organization. However, I suspect we will have to ask established businesses, school districts, government entities and npo’s to pay a nominal fee (perhaps $52/year) to become members, simply to offset operating costs for both the website and the physical organization. We will also encourage various organizations– and such major businesses as PECO–to become sponsors of the Website and the organization.
