Transition Party at Arcadia University

October 22, 2009
7:00 pmto9:00 pm

This Thursday, 7-9PM Arcadia University, Stiteler Hall, Glenside, PA

Introduction to Transition Towns — a festive, fast-paced overview of peak oil, climate change, and our collective Cheltenham – Arcadia response to re-create local community— local: artisans, food, energy, goods, service. This makes our collaborative community more resilient in the face of oil crises and more self-reliant because of its gradual—even playful “energy descent”. Food, fun, film and community fulfillment–Energy conservation and rooftop solar will be emphasized at this “party”. Folks from neighboring communities are most welcome!! A Zero-Waste event.

I’m very excited about our Transition Initiative because:

  • It is a collaborative project between Arcadia and its surrounding community.
  • It relies on the creativity, ingenuity and resourcefulness of the people.
  • It is a grass roots movement to make our community resilient & sustainable.
  • We will significantly shrink our collective carbon footprint.

Respectfully,
Bill Mettler
