Chester-Ridley-Crum Watersheds Association and Nether Providence Township will co host “Installing a Rain Garden on Your Property” on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 from 7 PM to 9 PM at the Nether Providence Municipal Building located at 214 Sykes Lane in Wallingford. The speaker will be Catherine Renzi, co-owner of Yellow Springs Nursery and well known rain garden designer, installer, and lecturer.
Participants are invited to a guided preview of a recently installed rain garden at nearby Sapovitz Park (located on Pritchard off of Providence Rd ) from 6:30 PM until 7 PM. Residents are also invited to help with or observe the planting of the rain garden behind the municipal building on Sunday, June 7th from 1 PM to 3 PM. Plants for that planting will be on display at the workshop. Participants will receive planting plans and plant lists for each rain garden, as well as a gift card for a 10% discount at Redbud Native Plant Nursery. These materials will also be posted on CRC’s web site, www.crcwatersheds.org and the township’s web site, www.netherprovidence.orgrain.
Rain gardens are important additions to our landscape to capture rainwater, improve water quality, and provide wildlife habitat, and are particularly useful in developed areas. To preregister or for directions, please contact CRC at 610-892-8731 or crc@nni.com. The funding for this program has been provided by League of Women Voters Water Resources Education Network (WREN).
