The House of Representatives did NOT include EERS in the energy bill that they plan to mark up before the Memorial Day holiday. The good news is that the new draft does include some modest energy efficiency measures (a 5% energy efficiency target is included). For more specifics about this please click here

And so, we must now look to the Senate to improve upon this bill and ask them to adopt an Energy Efficiency Resource Standard as part of the final energy bill.
According to the Campaign for an Energy Efficient America a national EERS to reduce electricity demand by 15 percent and natural gas demand by 10 percent by 2020 would result in the following savings if implemented:
Please contact our senators and ask them to please include an Energy Efficiency Resource Standard in the final Energy Bill.
