The science and policy surrounding climate change in Pennsylvania is rapidly taking shape. April’s Urban Sustainability Forum, moderated by Barry Seymour, Executive Director of the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC), provides an update on the latest research on the impacts of climate change in Pennsylvania, and the actions underway to face the closely-related challenges of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and becoming a more energy-efficient region.
Featuring speakers:
Dr. Ray Najjar, a professor with the Departments of Meteorology and Geosciences at Penn State will present the results of the Union of Concerned Scientists report Climate Change in Pennsylvania: Impacts and Solutions for the Keystone State, their recent study laying out the latest science on the expected impacts of climate change on Pennsylvania, as well as solutions available if we make the right choices.
Rob Graff, Manager, Energy and Climate Initiatives, Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC), will present the results of DVRPC’s recently released Regional Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory, which details the sources of GHG emissions in our region, and is guiding regional strategies for GHG emissions reduction.
Joe Sherrick, Climate Change Program Manager, Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, will provide an update on the activities of the Commonwealth, including the development of the state’s Climate Change Action Plan, and programs to reduce GHG emissions from energy use.
The audience will also have the opportunity to ask questions of the speakers.
