THE POWER OF COMMUNITY: HOW CUBA SURVIVED PEAK OIL

November 5, 2008
7:30 pmto9:30 pm

The movie will be held at:
Village Library
726 Penns Park Rd., Wrightstown 18940

When Cuba lost access to Soviet oil in the early 1990s, the country faced an immediate crisis – feeding the population – and an ongoing challenge: how to create a new low-energy society in economic hard times. This film tells the story of the Cuban people’s hardship, ingenuity, and triumph over sudden adversity – through cooperation, conservation, and community.

We will have a brief business meeting of the Bucks County Foodshed Alliance before the film. Agenda items include:

  • an update on Alliance activities
  • open nominations for the board of directors of the Foodshed Alliance. Our nominating committee will receive your nominations at the meeting or they may be submitted by email to the address above by November 18th. A slate will be presented at the December 3 Annual Meeting for election.

Have you wanted to get more involved in building a local, healthy food supply? Or do you know someone who would be a valuable asset on our board in our continuing efforts to build a local, sustainable food supply? If you have questions, please contact Robin Hoy, Executive Director, for more information at 215-860-7081 or bring your questions to the meeting Wed., Nov. 5.

Of course, REFRESHMENTS WILL BE SERVED!
